What We Do
CPTR specializes in working with community groups, elected officials, and interested citizens to explore whether adjustments to local property taxes – in particular the adoption of two-rate or land value tax systems – can help stabilize revenue streams, reduce burdens on low income residents and small businesses, and help reverse the effects of urban sprawl.
As part of our efforts we typically:
- Obtain and (if not already available) create GIS maps of local tax assessment data
- Run multiple quantitative analyses to identify optimal tax strategies in light of local needs and resources
- Produce professional reports and accompanying figures, suitable for use in educational and advocacy-related efforts
- Provide professional, non-partisan advice and consultations based on our analytical results
